ANZCRL's 1st AMS2 edition of the Daytona 24 Hour on Automobilista 2 in 2023 was an introduction to AUS/NZ Combined Racing League rich history of running the twice around the clock American classic race previously on Xbox Project CARS2. Last year's move to PC and AMS2 for ANZCRL's annual special event opener to the years sim racing was a shorter than usual race as a single session event of 2 hours 25 minutes with x10 time progression won by GUN180 in the DPI class and MONKEY claiming the GT3 battle driving the Porsche 911 GT3 R.
The 2nd running of the 24 Hours of Daytona on AMS2 sees the return to our exciting 4 sessions over 24 hours to recreate this classic race, also opening the opportunity for driver swaps between sessions for a true team experience.
The race will be run over 6 hours split into 4 sessions to simulate the full 24 hours. Overall and class winner plaques will be awarded at the end of 2024. Who will etch their names into ANZCRL history books for the 2nd running of ANZCRL's annual race season opener on AMS2?

Live track preset - Default progressing The in-game safety car will be in operation during the race.
It is expected that all drivers try and complete the race session without quitting out of the race. If for some reason that this is not possible, ANZCRL ask that you return to pits and stay there until the end of the session, as experience has shown that when a driver quits out of the race lobby there is a strong possibility that they may unwittingly take another driver out with them.
Race position at the end of each session will determine starting position for the next session. All cars that fall a lap down or more in class after the previous session will get 1 lap back. Cars that will still be a lap down or more will need to wait left of pit exit until the number of laps down from previous session is reached IMPORTANT INFORMATION make sure you leave car in neutral and not in gear, otherwise you will burn the clutch out even if you have automatic clutch on, (Extra Note: no driver will have to wait more than 5 laps down in total) and then you can drive off carefully joining the race once the class leader has passed you. If the leading pack is following close to one another it is the driver re-joining the race responsibility to join the track without effecting the leaders, so it's suggested to use your look behind button and join the race after the battle pack has passed.
NOTE: In-game rolling start for session 1 only, then sessions 2,3 & 4 standing start is only for the organisation of a formation lap into a single file restart from results of the previous race session. Think of this as a safety car intervention.
SESSIONS 2 to 4 RESTART PROCEDURE
Sessions 2, 3 & 4 will all start as a standing start grid. At the green light all cars on the lead lap will head off for 1 formation lap to get into race restart order from the previous race results.
Cars that are laps down will move off the grid and into the pit lane exit lane before turn 1 and then line up on the left of pit exit in class order with the leading car being the car least laps down from race leader.
Once the lead cars are in single file formation, the leader has control of the race once exiting the final corner and can restart the race anywhere from the pit entry to the starting line. NOTE: There is to be no overtaking until passing the start finish line, no overlapping is allowed.
If a car misses the restart and bogs down, cars behind may pass before the start finish line if they find they would need to lift dramatically to stay behind the car in front.
Lapped cars are to wait until the leaders have passed and put the car down the recorded amount of laps down (example: cars that are only 1 lap down only have to wait on the pit exit area during the formation lap and can then restart on the actual race restart as soon as the class leaders have put them the lap down, but must wait until it's safe to rejoin so this may mean waiting for the full class field to pass. It is up to the car rejoining not to interfere with the restarting pack remembering tyres will be far from operating temperatures.

Penalties If a driver is seen to be racing in an unsportsmanlike manner a time penalty may be applied to the end of race time at the discretion of ANZCRL admin.

ANZCRL encourages fair, competitive racing and if you think you have done the wrong thing to a fellow competitor, a redress of the position within the lap is expected. We pride ourselves on racing clean and following proper racing etiquette regarding giving space and overtaking cleanly. Excessive blocking will not be tolerated. If you make a mistake, please try to redress on circuit. Do not complain about race incidents during the event and concentrate moving on.
NOTE: The use of the reset car to track button is forbidden at any time unless your car ends up on its roof or stuck in a ditch or something similar stopping your car from moving. If it is found that a driver has used the reset car to track a 30 second end of race time penalty will be issued per offence.
