AUS/NZ Combined Racing Leagues 5th running of the Indy 500 on Xbox Project CARS2, a race that is the most prestigious event on the IndyCar calendar, and one of the oldest and most important automobile races. It has been avouched to be the largest single-day sporting event in the entire world.
200 laps, 500 miles, over 3 hours of racing will you be the one that drinks the bottle of milk at the end of the race?
Winning the Indianapolis 500 is one element towards ANZCRL Triple Crown. SSHADZZ and DarkRacing40 are the only 2 members to have been awarded the Triple Crown by winning Indy 500, LeMans 24 Hours and Bathurst 1000.
DarkRacing40 has called this event his own and has visited the podium on all 4 occasions, and of those 4 times he has been awarded 3rd, 2nd twice and won the race in 2020.
This years race is part of series 1 IndyCar championship and so with that being the case all signed up drivers have an automatic entry and qualified into the race with the remaining spots open for wildcard entries. Depending on any excess entry numbers will see a main (all IndyCar series drivers) and a tier 2 race based on qualifying times, with the main race lobby set at 12, the tier 2 lobby will need to have a minimum of 7 entries to run. If only one lobby will be run due to not enough entries (19 in total) the top 14 qualified drivers will compete in the 5th running of ANZCRL Indy 500.

Virtual Safety Car (VSC) Virtual safety car will be in operation and notified within party chat when a car is involved in an accident with another car/s. Drivers involved in the incident must be the ones that call for a virtual safety car by announcing "safety car, safety car. NO VSC IF ONLY 1 CAR IS INVOLVED IN AN OWN SPIN, IF A DRIVER SPINS OUT AND COMES TO A STOP OR NEAR TO A STOP DUE TO AVOIDING ANOTHER CAR WHICH AVOIDS CAUSING AN INCIDENT, THEY MAY CALL A VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR. Then we ask everyone that hears that the safety car has been called to acknowledge by repeating that safety car has been called this will also alert others if they missed the original call for the safety car.
When the virtual safety car is called, lead driver and all others not involved in the accident can continue racing until reaching the starting line if safe to do so where the leader will then required to maintain a speed of 150kph. All other drivers will then line up single file behind the leader and maintain the 150kph. All VSC periods will be 2 laps only with the leader of the race taking control of the race and can accelerate from the 150kph anywhere from turn 4 to the starting line with the race restarting and overtaking can recommence, passing is allowed before crossing the starting line (cars that pitted for fuel and tires during the VSC and are not back of the queue when the race restarts must be mindful if approaching back of the queue just after race restart as they will be travelling a lot faster than the cars in front of them). It is strongly suggested to get back into a groove before passing after restarts and wait until a few laps to settle the field and have tyres back in operation pressure and temperature.
Pitting during a virtual safety car period is allowed. If the leaders decide to pit before passing the starting line and slowing to 150kph, the next car that passes the start line on the lead lap while leaders are in the pits must slow to 150kph and are now the leader that controls the restart of the race after the virtual safety car period. Cars that are a lap down, once reaching the VSC queue, may continue safely pass to make 1 lap back only.
There will be no more VSC after the completion of lap 175 by the leader with 25 laps remaining. NOTE: ALL DRIVERS REQUIRE TO BE IN PARTY CHAT TO RECEIVE VIRTUAL SAFTEY CAR NOTIFICATIONS. IF FOR ANY REASON YOU CAN NOT BE IN PARTY CHAT PLEASE BE MINDFUL IF YOU COME UP TO A SLOWING PACK AND ABIDE BY SLOWING DOWN AND FORMING UP BEHIND THE CAR IN FRONT.
Race Spotter and Proximity Arrows All drivers are to have spotter and proximity indicator enabled in gameplay/onscreen guides & display options (must be selected as always not authentic).
It is also strongly suggested to have the reset car to track mapped to one of your buttons and ONLY to be used if you end up stuck or on your roof. Any driver seen using the reset to track during a spin or a mistake there will be a 30 second end of race time penalty applied.
